My family has been in the hair care business for over 100 years - I have applied this vast knowledge to my own business practice, and my approach to helping clients and teaching others how to excel in the beauty industry. One of my main goals over the years has been to bring greater distinction to salon industry and its professionals, who at times have been viewed as lower level service providers. The general public does not always realize that the hair care field requires years of training and technical aptitude to be among the most successful of industry professionals.

In addition, providing leadership for the salon, I am behind the chair 90 percent of the time working with clients this hands-on approach allows me to coach and develop my staff daily. It also ensures that our clients receives a consistent, quality experience when they visit Gary Patrick Salon. I also demonstrate a strong work ethic, which demonstrates to the other stylists that through consistency, diligence, and efficiency, and they can achieve a very attractive career and future.

Where and when did you attend beauty college?

How long have you been in the salon industry?
Since the late 1980s.


What do you consider your signature cut & color?
I really don’t have one - it depends upon the individual client. I love variety.


Who or what inspires you?
My grandfathers Joseph A. Longo, M.D. and Joseph F. Gemma, as well as art, fashion, and food. I also draw inspiration from other industry professionals, who have set a higher standard and paved the way for generations to come.

 

Tell us something interesting about yourself outside of the salon.
Haircare is very much an art, but I’ve also been oil painting since the age of six.


What is your most prized possession?
My children.
